4th of July
One of the first things I thought about this morning after I woke up was the awesome memories I have growing up on the 4th of July. I wanted to give a little shout out to:
*The Oelwein 4th of July Parades
*The political stickers that Drew Boy stuck to his legs and got nasty tan lines from
*The snakes that Dad would light on the 2x4
*The balls that when lit would create colorful smoke
*"Emits showers of sparks"
*Bed Races
*The undercover Amish boys at City Park
*April being scared of Sparklers
*Running around the house with sparklers and spelling our names in the dark
*Hol being in the dunk tank as Miss Oelwein
*AND MY PERSONAL FAVORITE...Laying on top of the van under sleeping bags, dairy queen malts in tow!
Before I blogged about the Chandlers 4th of July celebration I felt it necessary to reminisce from past 4th of July memories. Our day started out by sleeping in, thank you Lyla. We then snuggled as a family for 20 minutes because Lyla was being such a good girl and was ok with just chilling. Scott grabbed us some Chicken Xpress for lunch (best sweet corn nuggets I have ever had, in fact the only ones I have ever had) and once Lyla woke up we got her dressed for the barbecue at the Norsworthys. Bryan and Linda stopped in for a quick visit before they headed to the Ranger game. After they left we left to go to a friends barbecue.
The party was so much fun because nearly every woman there had just had a baby. There were 3 other babies there all born the same week as Lyla.
Of course Lyla slept through most of the party so she wasn't much fun. She did dip her feet in the pool, visited with Robbie, and snuggled with Daddy.
I had so much fun visiting with the other mommies about their birthing experience. Christina, one of the moms there, just had a set of twins so it was so neat to talk to her. It made me miss you Apey! After a night full of fun the Chandlers headed home just in time to watch the Grapevine fireworks from Lyla's nursery. Thank you Christian and Aaron for having us over...we had a blast!
