So all of you know how die hard I am about the Iowa Hawkeyes, thanks in part to my awesome parents who raised me to be an Iowa Hawkeye fan. Well this weekend was the just beginning in passing that intelligence on to my daughter. Saturday morning Lyla woke up and Scott started teaching her da na na na na na na...GO HAWKS...da na na na na na na...GO HAWKS da na na na na na na GO HAWKS...bum bum bum bum bum bum bum ba! After eating a hearty game day meal (someday she will make her mommy proud by stuffing her face with brats at 5 a.m.) Lyla experienced her first Iowa kick off. She watched about a quarter of the game before she needed to go down for a nap. At nap time I always read her a few books. Today we read Hello Herky. She loves looking at the pictures and what better way to teach her about the University of Iowa. While Lyla napped I was able to really focus on the game, although my focusing wasn't really helping the score too much. Eventually Lyla woke up with about five minutes left in the game. After she ate there was about 2 minutes left. I handed her off to Daddy and she had a HUGE blow out. Neither of us wanted to change her because the game was so close so Scott held her up right...well the poop started to creep out the top of her diaper so I had to change her. I thought it was no big deal because UNI was about to kick a field goal to win the game and frankly I didn't want to see it. So I took her in to change her and Scott screamed they blocked it! I couldn't believe it. Ok but it gets worse. After the blocked field goal I went back into Lyla's room because she was naked and I didn't want to take any chances. So I assumed that the game ended on that blocked field goal. Well later that night Scott and I figured out that Iowa had actually blocked two field goal attempts. I am a little ashamed that I didn't know that until the evening but I was a little distracted. All in all the game was good for Lyla...we don't want her assuming that Iowa doesn't have to work hard for their wins.
The cheerleading outfit was her second outfit of the day thanks to a blow out!

The very last preseason game Scott blew up his toe, which ended his football season prematurely. While many, and even us in the beginning, would see this as a misfortune, the Lord opened our eyes to HIS plan. I was a little worried about our timing since the football season was starting and I knew Scott would be on the road a lot. We had been trying for a few months without any luck. As fate would have it we were scheduled to fly to North Carolina for Scott's surgery. The plane was delayed so we ended up driving home for a few hours. One thing led to another... and eventually we were back on our way to North Carolina. That month we conceived and we knew that Scott's injury was our little blessing in disguise.

Galations 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
