Touchdown Chandler

Friday night the Cowboys ended their pre-season with a game against the Minnesota Vikings. I was really looking forward to this game because I knew it would be one that Scott will play the majority of. However after 3 quarters my father in law and I were about to pull our hair out. Scott hadn't gotten the ball and there were so many penalties on both sides a flow was never established. I could tell penalty after penalty that Scott was getting frustrated. Going into the 4th quarter the Cowboys were down 31-21 and it seemed that they would be ending their preseason with a loss. However the Cowboys drove down to the 4 yard line, thanks in large part to an awesome catch by Scottie, and what happened next was perfect. Rudy Carpenter dropped back to pass and found SCOTT CHANDLER open in the end zone. Bryan and I both jumped up and down cheering with excitement. Scott hadn't scored since his rookie season in the NFL and after suffering a season ending injury last year, the touchdown felt great. Almost just as exciting and if not more was Scott's two hits on special teams. He looked like he was having so much fun smashing into players rather than being the guy who got smashed into. One of the reasons I decided to blog, aside from sharing Lyla Bean stories was to show how God is working in our lives. I hope Scott doesn't mind that I share this story but I felt that is was too neat to keep to myself. After the game Scott called me excited about his win. At halftime I am sure Scott was pretty frustrated with his playing because he hadn't gotten the ball and from the constant penalties. When he ran in he said alright Lord maybe this is your way of telling me that I should be done with football and that this isn't what I am supposed to be doing. Before he scored his touchdown he said he felt an overwhelming feeling that the Lord was with him. And sure enough he was because the next moment he was in the end zone with the ball in his hands. He said as soon as he scored he thought that was you Lord. He also felt his presence when he was on special teams when he smashed into the ball carrier.
Even though the majority of the game was extremely frustrating, it was well worth it after hearing him so excited after the game. What a fun way to end the pre season. Oh yea did I mention the Cowboys ended up winning the game? Way to go Scottie...we are so very proud of you!

That's an AWESOME story! I had to pass it on to patients who are huge Cowboy fans--what a great thing to have to pass on. Tell Scott we're cheering for him and praying for him to do great things.
