- Scott and I moved into our first place together
- We got to help out a number of different charities
- We met some amazing friends through the Chargers (The Clary's, Weddles, Wilhelms, and Steve and Rosie)
- We went on our first cruise together
- We bought our first house (it was a dream house)
- We experienced our first major season ending injury
- We got pregnant
- We attended the MOST AMAZING church I had ever been to and became friends with Pastor Barry
- We volunteered with the AMPT youth group and met our best friends Dan and Casi
- Little Lyla Bean was born
- And unfortunately we got released by the Chargers
So come Saturday we finally find out what the final verdict is. We have talked about all of our options and here are the scenarios that could happen
- He makes the team!
- We got cut again by the Cowboys
- Another team has 24 hrs. to sign him. Let's say that three teams are interested in him, well the team with the worst record last year in the NFL has priority. We will not know until 24 hours literally after he gets cut which team gets him.
- If no other team signs him then the Cowboys can sign him to practice squad.
- If no teams sign him and the Cowboys don't want him then we would consider playing in the UFL. The UFL (United Football League) is in its first year this year. The UFL is an independent professional league that is out of Arizona. All players live in AZ and fly to each city where they play. They would put us up in housing if this is the route we decide to go. The season is extremely short, running from October and ending around Thanksgiving.
I have extremely mixed emotions about the football thing. There are so many amazing things to come out of this lifestyle. I love meeting new people and learning a new city. I HATE being away from my family. However I choose to support my husband in this adventure and Lyla and I will always be on his side. Having a baby definitely makes things a little bit harder but as long as there is team who wants Scott we will follow him.
My faith in Christ has truly made this transition so much easier on me and our marriage. I am so blessed to have married such a strong Christian man. I couldn't imagine this stress that this lifestyle would have on a non-believer. I have been reading a lot of scripture these past few weeks to help ease some of my anxiety. These verses can apply to so many things in life, not just my experience right now.
Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Psalm 62:8
Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall. Psalm 55:22
One of my favorites: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
Thank you to all of you who have been praying for us. I am a strong believer in the power of prayer. The Lord will take care of us and we will follow his plan. I will let all of you know our future as soon as I find out. We love you all!
