Today/this weekend we celebrated April and I's birthday. I went home towards the end of the week to work on Lyla's scrapbook with April and my mom. Scott joined us after his workouts on Friday. We had another great weekend in Oelwein with family and friends. Saturday a friend of mine, Nate Lamphier, got married so it was so much fun to get to see old friends, classmates and teachers. Sunday my Grandpa Mit and Aunt Lyn came down to Oelwein to help us celebrate our birthdays. We had a blast and thank you thank you thank you Lyn for 1) bringing Gramp down to see us and 2) making the cauliflower casserole that I love so so much. You are always so wonderful to our family and we love you so much!
On Sunday April and Isiah came to Iowa City so that April and I could spend our birthday together...I don't even remember the last time we were together on our birthday. We had such a great day shopping, eating yummy food, opening presents, playing with Lyla, eating an amazing cake, and simply being with each other on our birthday. Thank you so much Apey for coming up and spending the day with me. I love you so much! Happy Birthday and I hope in the years to come we are able to spend such a special day together.
One more thing I wanted to acknowledge. Before Lyla was born I thought my birthday was all about me. Well now that I have experienced labor and childbirth I have a new found respect for my mom. Labor isn't fun or easy. Thank you Mom for bringing me into this world. Thanks too Dad! And thank you so everyone who sent cards, gifts, emails, or made phone calls. There is nothing better than the love you feel on your birthday.
