The Big D!
I am going to apologize for the lack of blogging this past month and a half...our life once again was flipped upside down. I will try and shorten up the happenings of this past month as best I can.
Lyla and I got back from our vacation in Iowa to a very excited Scott at the airport. On the way home we discussed our options, as camp was over and we knew that the final cuts were only a week and a half away. Scott was pretty sure that he would be getting cut, based on how much they were using him in training camp. So final cut day came and we were right in our assumptions. Getting cut is never a fun thing, I can't imagine how Scott must feel when it happens. So after a call into Rick, Scott's agent, we played the waiting game. The next day we went to church, in hopes of getting football off our minds, when we got a call from Rick during church. Scott took the call and was told that there was no news. Shortly after he sat back down, he had received a text from Rick saying that the Cowboys wanted to pick him up on their practice squad. Church let out and we rushed home to start figuring out a plan and start packing. Luckily Scott's parents were out in Jersey visiting so they were able to help out with all the chaos. In a few hours, and a few break downs by me, Scott was on a plane to Dallas while we all packed up our apartment. Bryan and Linda were wonderful and stayed to help me pack up and watch Lyla. A few days later, the apartment was empty and Lyla and I were back in Dallas. I had very mixed emotions about being back. The first time we moved to Dallas I had the baby blues for a while, so a lot of the same feelings started coming back to me. I had been praying a lot about moving back and the Lord was so good and heard my prayers. Being back in Texas has been such a blessing. We are out of our tiny apartment and now renting a huge house on Lake Grapevine. We have a yard again, walking trails, family close by, and a billion yummy places to eat. I also started back up with my wives bible study so that has been wonderful, seeing all of my old friends.
The biggest blessing of all came a little over a week ago when the Cowboys decided to activate Scott onto their active roster. What an amazing amazing blessing the Lord has blessed us with. We are so thrilled to be here and even more thrilled to be a part of this team again. Scott is like a little kid on Christmas getting to set foot on the field again. The picture explains it all. Thank you to all of my friends and family who emailed, texted, visited, and helped us throughout this past month. We love you all so much and honestly couldn't get through these crazy fun years without your support.
