Sorry no internet!

The reason I haven't been posting these past 2 weeks is because we are still waiting to get our internet hooked up. It is supposed to happen this Wednesday so I promise once I have a second I will update my blog on all the crazy happenings.

Play Date

Lyla had her first play date yesterday with her cousins Carson and Creighton. She of course was oblivious to the company but the boys had a good time checking her out. My sister-in-law was a sweetie and came by the hotel for the afternoon yesterday. Creighton was so sweet to Lyla, giving her nice soft touches and handing me burp clothes and blankies. However when I was changing Lyla Creighton was curious about Lyla's nipples and touched both of them. Christe and I about died and decided we would tell them this story when they were older to embarass them. Lyla slept like a champ through all the commotion of her big cousins and ate like a big girl. Thanks Christe for the company and the food. LOVE YOU!

Road Trip

Well after three days of traveling across 3 states this family of three finally made it to Texas. Thursday the movers came and packed up all of our things and loaded them into a moving truck. My mother-in-law Linda came out a few days earlier to help me get the house ready to go. She was an angel for doing half the things she did. With only being 2 weeks out from a major surgery, I was pretty much no help what so ever. Our GREAT friends Dan and Casi stopped by the house around 4:30 p.m. to meet Lyla and say goodbye and were so good to follow us down to the airport since I couldn't drive. We hit the road around 5:30 with a baby who was crying and had spit up all over her sleeper. I was not looking forward to this trip if this was what was it was going to be like. However, Lyla was a good little girl and fell asleep until her next feeding. This trip made me master the art of nursing in a back seat of a Chevy Avalanche and feel no shame for my bare boob hanging out for people to see who drove by. Our first night we made it to Tucson, AZ where we pulled off at a hotel and got some rest...haha yeah right but we can call it that for the sake of the story. The next morning we woke up, fed the baby, and took off for what was to be the long day. Our goal was to stop by Scott's grandparents at some point in El Paso and get a hotel in Odessa, TX. Lyla again was an angel and only woke when every few hours to eat. Otherwise she slept the entire day. I guess we can attribute this to her being a newborn still. We made it to Scott's grandparents around 5 and I fed Lyla and gave her some play time. They were great to have dinner for us and after a good hour of catching up, we hit the road again. The next stint of our drive was probably the most challenging. Lyla was due to eat, we were out in the middle of nowhere and we had no place to pull off. She hadn't woken up yet so I didn't wake her...BIG MISTAKE! She went about 5 hours between her last feeding so when she woke up she was LIVID! Of course we were in the middle of what looked to be a town where they filmed Texas Chainsaw Massacre. We finally found a spot to park and at this point there was no calming down this child. She ate horribly because she was so upset and wouldn't fall back asleep after she ate. Needless to say once we got to Odessa (yes, the home of the Permian Panthers) without an unhappy baby and two tired parents. That night Lyla slept bad because her whole schedule was off. Luckily we were able to sleep in the next day and relax a little before we hit the road. Our last day of travel had finally arrived. We hit the road around 11 and made it to Texas around 4:30 p.m. I have never been happier to pull into Texas. After three long days of travel we had made it. My mother-in-law Linda was such an angel. She road tripped with us all by herself and never complained once. She had to ride the entire way by herself and was so good to help us out with getting both cars to Texas. Thank you Linda...we owe you BIG TIME!

This week we are staying at the Gaylord Texan while the movers get here with our stuff. Scott leased an apartment for the summer in Grapevine and we will move in sometime next week. The Cowboys hooked us up with an amazing room at this amazing hotel. Thank God for that. Thank you everyone for all of your prayers during this trip. The Lord definitely had his arms wrapped around us protecting us throughout this whole ordeal.

Packing up and Moving out

Just wanted to give you all a little heads up on the Chandlers upcoming couple of weeks. My parents left this morning (definitely the hardest goodbye so far) and I am oficially spending my first day with just Lyla. Of course she is perfect and has been a doll for her mommy. Tomorrow Scott's parents fly into town to help me throughout the rest of the week until Scott comes home on Thursday. This will be their first time meeting Lyla so I anticipate that they are so anxious to meet her. Thursday we have movers coming to pack up ALL of our stuff and moving it down to Grapevine, TX. Once the movers pack up all of our stuff we will all hop in the car and begin our 19 hour car ride to Texas. Lyla is too young to fly and I didn't want to expose her to all the icky germs in the airport so we opted for the car ride. We estimate it will take us the whole weekend to get to Texas. We are so blessed that Scott's parents are helping us out on this long journey. Once we arrive to Texas the movers will have our stuff at our place sometime between Monday and Friday. I may be without the internet for a while so updates on Lyla will have to wait. Please pray for our safe drive to Texas and for Lyla to be a good girl in her car seat. We are going to miss all of friends out here in San Diego. We knew this was part of the job but never anticipated building such great friendships out here. Scott and I love you all so much and if you are ever in the Dallas area please please call.

Lyla's Here (7lbs. 10 oz, 19 inches)

Obviously I am way past due on updating my blog but it has been a crazy week. I will just go back a week from today and fill you in on all the details. Last Wednesday my mom flew into town. Scott flew out the day before to Dallas for workouts so it was nice having her here. That day we painted pottery, went to lunch and went to Target. All day I had been uncomfortable and felt a burning in my back. I didn't think much of it because I didn't know what labor felt like. As the day progressed and I still felt icky but chalked it up to a busy day. That night I noticed the pain was getting worse. I wasn't able to sleep so I woke my mom and told her that I thought they were contractions. I called my doctor and he told me to go to the hospital to get checked out. It was about 2:30 am and I called Scott to tell him that I thought I was going into labor. My biggest fear was that he was going to miss Lyla's birth. My mom and I went to the hospital and I was only 1 cm dilated and so they sent me home. I attempted to go back to sleep unsuccessfully and decided to get up and shower. I made an appointment to get in to see my doctor and headed his way a little before 9 am. Dr. Maresh examined me and said I had dilated another half inch and that he thought the I might need a C-section because she wasn't descending. Needless to say I called the Cowboys and told them to inform Scott that his wife was going into labor and he needed to catch a flight home ASAP. Of course they told me he was in practice and that they couldn't pull him out. This of course made me furious but there was nothing I could do about it. They informed me that they got him on a flight that would get him in after five. At this point I was convinced that he would miss the birth. After my appointment I went home, put my suit on and hopped into my tub to help relax me through each contraction. My mom was awesome, timing my contractions and keeping me calm through the pain. Eventually I couldn't take the pain anymore and so we headed to the hospital around 2 p.m. I got checked in and hooked up to an amazing little friend of mine called an epidural. At this point I talked to Scott and he was able to get an earlier flight. This calms my fears a little but I am still worries that he won't be here in time. Once I got the drugs I felt great. I no longer felt the contractions and that was amazing. Eventually my doctor headed over and examined me again. I still wasn't dilating and she wasn't descending. Our option was basically a C-section and I had to make that choice. Finally Scott arrived and we decided that the C was the way to go. Especially after they broke my water and realized that Lyla had gone pooh which is a sign of distress. After making the decision to have the C, Scott attempted to squeeze into the tiny scrubs and I was rolled into the operation room. I was pretty scared and had to call my sister Holly so she could tell me that everything was going to be ok. She calmed my fears and I was ready to go. The whole C-section experience was crazy. I didn't feel a thing, and it didn't take long at all. It took about 10 minutes from when they started until when they pulled her out. It was such an amazing sound when I heard Lyla cry for the first time. I got a glance at her and she was perfect, with a head of black hair! Scott cut the cord and they cleaned her off and took her to the nursery. I wanted to go with but they had to put me back together again so I had to hang out for another 20 minutes. Once they were all done I was wheeled into my room and my mom and Scott met me in their with little Lyla. She was so awesome and it was so amazing to finally have her out. The first few days in the hospital were long. Because of my owie I had to stay put and didn't sleep well at all. Fortunately we were able to leave the hospital after 2 days. It was so nice to be home! The next few days were spent with Daddy since Scott would be leaving to go back to Dallas in just a few days. This was really hard on all of us. A lot of tears were shed and my heart felt like it got ripped out of my chest when he left but I knew it was only going to be temporary. My mom has been so amazing this past week and a half. She literally has done everything for me from cleaning, cooking all my meals, waking up with Lyla to change her, letting me nap during the day, feeding me literally, going to the grocery store and so much more. I seriously don't know what I would do without her being out here. I think I am going to keep her out here. My dad arrived yesterday and it has been a lot of fun watching him plan with Lyla. They are both here until Monday and then Scott's family will arrive on Tuesday. Scott gets back tomorrow but has to leave again on Sunday. He will then fly back next week Thursday and we will drive back to TX together with his parents. All of this has been pretty overwhelming for me so I am ready to have some structure again in my life. Thank you to everyone for all your thoughts and prayers and messages and gifts. I have such amazing friends and family. I can't wait for all of you to meet my little girl.
